Our charity runs specialist services for autistic people, people with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and complex needs. We work across Hampshire, South East England, London, Hertfordshire, East Anglia and Shropshire.
We are pleased to offer an opportunity for a full time Tenancy Management Officer to join our well established Housing department.
We are offering hybrid working and so the role will be based at our Sidcup office 2 days per week, as well as working from home. The role is Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
As a Tenancy Management Officer you will provide our tenants with an excellent housing management service: Issuing tenancies, effective management and resolution of disputes, minimising rental arrears & client debts and meeting our statutory and regulatory obligations when providing these services.

- Ensure tenancies are in place and work with operational colleagues to ensure tenants are aware of the obligations these place upon them and the organisation.
- Provide assistance, advice and support to tenants and operational colleagues to address any tenancy disputes promptly and effectively.
- Monitor and maintain rent and charge records for tenants, working with operational colleagues and tenants to proactively address arrears.
- Provide monthly reports of arrears and bad debts to managers.
- Work closely with operational colleagues and other internal departments in the delivery of duties. Seeking out external support and clarification when necessary (e.g. legal advice) in the pursuance of duties.
- Support the annual review and setting of rents and charges for supported housing within the group, including negotiation with Housing Benefit teams.
- Ensure all new tenants are provided with a tenancy and supporting information, make relevant HB and welfare benefit claims, and accurately record detailed account of action taken on the rental systems
- Resolve tenancy disputes quickly and effectively
Our ideal candidate looks like this!
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Hold a full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle for business use (mileage paid)
- Experience of successfully negotiating rent and service charges with local authorities, and understanding of exempt rents and intensive housing management charges
- Experience in successfully reducing tenancy arrears and bad debts
- Understanding of tenancies and experience in successfully enforcing tenancy obligations
- Good understanding of housing management services and relevant housing legislation
- Understanding of supported housing and the housing and accommodation needs of people with complex needs
- Good IT skills including Office 365
- Tenacious, paying attention to detail with the ability to get to the root of an issue and work with others to address it
- Possess good organisation & communication skills
- Be a supportive team player helping team to be their best
