Equality, diversity and inclusion at Avenues
Avenues is proud to support and employ all kinds of people, and value the unique skills and experience each person brings to our community. At the heart of the organisation is a person-centred approach. That means recognising each individual’s skills and needs and the part they play in the organisation, society or their community
The organisation has been named as one of the Top 100 Employers by the National Centre for Diversity.
To help make sure we have a fair and inclusive organisation the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Steering Group was formed. It’s a group of people from different areas of the organisation with varying roles. They work together with directors and trustees and speaking with employees to make sure everyone is treated fairly and in keeping with Avenues values. That applies to the people we support, employees families, trustees and other volunteers.
The group also has some specific focus areas around race and ethnicity, disability, trustee recruitment and communications and accessibility.
The Steering Group aims to influence the strategy around equality, diversity and inclusion in Avenues; and to make sure Senior Leaders carry this out in the right way. That is the Strategy Support Team, Executive Management Teams and Board of Trustees.
